Pineider Arco Firefox 14K Gold Red/Black Fountain Pens
One of only 888 made, the Arco Firefox fountain pen is rich with colour and class. A striking barrel pattern of rich mahogany brown interspersed with swirls of copper orange creates a truly dramatic aesthetic. Designed by Dante Del Vecchio in Florence, it has a streamlined form and tones reminiscent of classic 20th century fountain pens.
Arco is crafted from a blend of transparent and opaque resin layers bonded by a golden glue. It is then turned on a lathe at a 4 degree slant to produce a barrel with a semi-transparent, iridescent finish. The rich barrel is contrasted with a number of polished palladium plated trims such as the iconic Pineider quill clip. Completed with delicately engraved feather lines, this slim clip is spring loaded for ease when sliding into pockets. The palladium end band unscrews to reveal the piston filler, whilst the cap top is finished with a pressed a circular finial. The cap uses a magnetic soft-touch, twist lock mechanism which ensures it attaches in the same position every time. Its ergonomic grip which gently curves away from the nib, keeps the hand further back to avoid inky fingers.
A ‘Hyperflex’ 14kt gold nib beautifully completes the design and enables extraordinary fluidity in strokes with virtually no pressure. Small notches on either side create the perfect flex of the tip when writing.
INNOVATION – A striking example of how Pineider are bringing writing instruments into the 21st Century, Arco combines classic styling with contemporary manufacturing processes, engineering and colour palettes to produce a pen with universal appeal.
PORTABLE DESK SET – Arco comes in a rich, pine green trapezium-like box also containing Pineider paper and watermarked envelopes. The box opens from the top outwards via two lids transforming into a portable desk area. The pen sits above on a leatherette lining whilst the paper and envelopes sit below.
SPECIFICATION – To refill, gently twist the end palladium band and pull up the plunger, place the nib into a bottle of ink and then slowly push the plunger back down until it clicks. This may need to be done a couple of times to achieve a complete refill.
