When people ask me what calligraphy means to me I often reply by saying it is my living, but also what I live for. To grab a pen and see letters occur on the paper is magic!

That curiosity and willingness to try new things is really how my journey into calligraphy began, and continues to shape my work today.

The ability to transform thoughts and ideas to a piece of artwork makes me believe that the journey is as important as the destination.

Stay curious, patient, and persistent. Creativity is a journey; it takes time to discover your style, build confidence, and find your niche.

Calligraphy and medicine might seem like two completely different worlds, but they actually balance each other beautifully. My medical profession can be demanding, and calligraphy offers me a sense of calm and mindfulness.

I'd advise being authentic and finding your unique style. Copying others might bring temporary gains, but it won't help you build a lasting identity. Decide your worth and process your work with excellence, considering your experience and skills.

Take the time to truly understand your script that you are learning, and make sure to engage with the fellow calligraphers and connect with the community.

For me, penmanship is not merely a skill but a lifelong devotion, an art form I hold close to my heart and strive to nurture each day.

Calligraphy weaves seamlessly into my life-it balances the analytical nature of my day job, offering a peaceful, creative release. It also anchors my mindfulness practice, reminding me to slow down and appreciate the beauty of small details.

I believe inspiration is everywhere, and I draw from it constantly. Whether it's the motivating words of my family or the incredible work of fellow calligraphers and artists, I always strive to learn from those around me.

My first attempt at calligraphy was terrible, and so was the next. Just keep practicing, create muscle memory by repeating drills (even though they may seem boring and repetitive) and reach out to artists you are inspired by and let them know. We we're all beginners once!
